Our Services

Whether you're here because of a court requirement or because you've decided it's time to make a change, Gateway Counseling offers the same thing either way: honest assessment, appropriate care, and a team that takes your situation seriously. We specialize exclusively in substance use disorder services; it's all we do, and we do it well.

Outpatient Treatment

Recovery looks different for everyone. Some people need intensive, structured support several days a week. Others are further along and need ongoing maintenance to stay on track. We offer multiple levels of outpatient care so your treatment matches where you actually are — not a one-size-fits-all program.

All treatment at Gateway begins with a comprehensive evaluation using ASAM criteria to determine the appropriate level of care. From there, your counselor works with you to build a treatment plan around your goals, your schedule, and any legal requirements you're managing.

Levels of care we offer:

    • Intensive Outpatient (IOP): Multiple group sessions per week combined with individual counseling. Designed for clients who need more structured support while still living at home and managing daily responsibilities.
    • Standard Outpatient: Individual and group counseling on a schedule tailored to your treatment plan. Appropriate for clients who need structured support at a lower intensity than IOP.
    • Recovery Maintenance: Ongoing group sessions focused on relapse prevention for clients in later stages of recovery. Helps you stay connected and accountable as you build long-term stability.
    • Continuing Care: Lower-frequency individual sessions for clients transitioning out of more intensive treatment. Bridges the gap between active treatment and independence.

Deferred Prosecution Treatment

Washington State's DUI Deferred Prosecution program is a two-year treatment commitment in exchange for a deferred sentence. It's a serious legal process and completing it correctly requires a treatment provider who understands both the clinical and compliance sides.

Gateway has extensive experience working with clients in the deferred prosecution process. We provide the structured treatment program required by the courts, maintain thorough documentation throughout, and communicate directly with your attorney or probation officer as needed. We understand what courts and attorneys need from us, and we make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

What deferred prosecution at Gateway includes:

  • Comprehensive substance use evaluation meeting Washington State court requirements
  • Structured outpatient treatment program for the duration of the deferred prosecution period
  • Regular compliance documentation for courts, attorneys, and probation officers
  • Coordination with your legal team throughout the process

If you're considering deferred prosecution or have already been accepted into the program, contact us to discuss next steps.

Alcohol and Drug Evaluations

A substance use evaluation is often the first step, whether you're facing a DUI, a court requirement, a professional licensing matter, or simply want an honest assessment of your relationship with alcohol or drugs.

Our evaluations are comprehensive, court-recognized, and completed by licensed professionals using ASAM criteria and standardized assessment tools. You'll receive a written report that's suitable for courts, attorneys, employers, or any other referral source that requires documentation.

What our evaluations include:

  • Full psychosocial assessment and substance use history
  • ASAM-based level of care determination
  • Written report for courts, attorneys, probation officers, or personal records
  • Recommendations for treatment if indicated
  • Coordination with your legal team or referral source as needed

Evaluations are typically completed in one to two hours and are generally required to be done in person. If treatment is recommended, we can get you scheduled promptly - no need to start the process over somewhere else.

ADIS - Alcohol & Drug Information School

ADIS is an eight-hour educational course approved by Washington State courts for clients dealing with DUI charges and certain other offenses. It's designed as an early-intervention tool, not treatment, and focuses on the effects of alcohol and drugs and responsible decision-making.

We offer ADIS the third Saturday of every month. The class is available to both court-ordered and self-referred clients.

A few things to know:

  • ADIS is not covered by insurance. Because it's classified as an educational program rather than medical treatment, it must be paid out of pocket.
  • ADIS is not a substitute for treatment. If your evaluation recommends a level of care beyond ADIS, completing the class alone will not satisfy that requirement.
  • Registration is available online. [Click here to register for an upcoming class.]
